Math and Science Week of 9/14/15

September14

Math:

We are introducing place value as it relates to whole numbers through the millions and decimals to the thousandths. Students took a pre-assessment to determine what they already know and groups will be planned accordingly. You can help your child at home by practicing reading, writing and ordering whole numbers. We will learn how to order decimals, compare them as it relates to powers of ten and reviews vocab terms such as: place, value, digit and number.

Science:

We are continuing our unit on weathering, erosion and deposition. We will have a candy lab on Thursday to discover how wind weathers rocks.

IMPORTANT NOTE: On Wednesday, both classes will attend an in-school field trip to the Nature Trail to see weathering, erosion and deposition up close. Please have your child wear tennis shoes and pants that are suitable for outside in the morning and can get dirty.
