Math and Science – Week of 11/9/15

November9

Our math class instruction will be cut short this week due to 2 events taking place during math. The first is our in school Wellstar field trip on Wednesday. The second is our 2nd STEM Lab class with Mrs. Montague on Friday. This past Friday was an introduction to the project we’ll be working on. We know the students are very excited to have this opportunity!

Math:

This week we will continue working with fractions and the operation of subtraction. Please see the strategies I’ve attached below for tips on how you can help your student at home. Students are continuing to review decimals during their independent work time (comparing, multiplying, dividing, rounding, writing, describing and plotting).

Science:

We have finished our study of mixtures, solutions and compounds and are moving into the area of physical changes. Students will be investigating changes and whether or not they meet the qualifications for being a physical change or if another change has taken place. You will be receiving information from Sara Gallo (our room mom) in regards to our upcoming Gobble, Gobble Day (November 19 until about lunchtime) and how you can help.
